Why we opened this campaign
💙 Liza is incredibly sweet and kind.
That’s the very first thing you feel when you meet her in person. Only later do you realize that behind her delicate and gentle appearance lies iron discipline and willpower, enormous creative potential, a gift for bringing joy to others, and many other wonderful qualities.
And what a smile she has!
Liza’s face is hidden in the photo at the request of the IDF, for security reasons.
Liza came to Israel from Ukraine when the war began in her country. Before repatriation, she studied philology — Semitic languages. She speaks four languages fluently, can communicate in two more, and is now teaching herself sign language.
🪖 Liza is a lone soldier.
She serves in the psychology department, helping soldiers receive the psychological and psychiatric support they need — something especially important now, after the war.
As Liza herself says, this work is fascinating, and she hopes to continue in this field after the army — to study social work and dedicate her life to helping people.
🦷 Shortly before enlistment, during a routine dental check-up, Liza was diagnosed with a rare and complex orthodontic condition that requires urgent and lengthy treatment.
If therapy is not started immediately, her teeth will begin to shift and damage the entire dental arch.
💰 The cost of treatment exceeds 30,000 shekels.
The army does not cover it because the duration of treatment will exceed her service period, and attempts to find assistance through special programs have not succeeded.
Liza lives very modestly — and the amount is enormous for her, equivalent to 6–7 months of income.
Before the army, she worked in various unskilled jobs but couldn’t save much — her small earnings barely covered living expenses.
Now her income consists of a few small army and repatriate stipends, totaling only about 4,500 shekels.
Postponing treatment is impossible — it’s simply dangerous and poses a serious risk to her future.
🙏 If each of us contributes even a few shekels, together we can easily cover the needed amount and help preserve the wonderful smile of this amazing young woman.
Every shekel counts.
