Smart Hesed is more than financial support. We do not limit ourselves to one-time payments, but give families real "tools for life": we teach them how to plan a budget, navigate the law, find a job and regain their self-esteem. Thanks to our approach, people are no longer afraid of tomorrow because they know how to solve problems here and now and how to prevent them from happening again.

Family of 4 people, the eldest daughter is diagnosed with oncology in remission, the youngest son is undiagnosed in the country of origin, but clearly has signs of ADHD. The family has been in the country for a year and a half, in fact only the husband can work because the wife is constantly having to go to doctors and authorities trying to get a diagnosis and help for the younger son. Because of her weak Hebrew, the woman is constantly caught in the millstones of Israeli bureaucracy — and the process is practically unstoppable. Her husband’s salary is barely enough to cover the rent and household expenses.
How does Smart Hesed work?
A Fund employee with a social worker’s license conducts a series of consultations with the family, explains the procedure for receiving child benefits, prepares the necessary requests to Bituach Leumi, health insurance companies, etc. As a result, it turns out that both children are entitled to financial assistance from the state, the younger son is diagnosed with autism and sent to a specialized educational institution, the state partially or fully pays for additional education and therapy and after-school care, and the mother has the opportunity to go to work at least half a day. As a result, the family not only gets back on its feet, but can even help other people in distress.

How does Smart Hesed work?
The social worker analyzes her situation together with the ward, helps her to get on the waiting list for social housing and receive the necessary benefits, and also helps her to obtain alimony payments through Bituach Leumi. As a result, the woman can safely raise her children and rehabilitate a sick child without fear of not having a piece of bread in the house.

How does Smart Hesed work?
The Foundation announces a levy and helps the family with the costs necessary to obtain a license, plus a small but meaningful amount to cover household needs and, if necessary, the psychologist’s fees. One spouse is licensed and goes to work at a salary that covers the family’s basic needs. After that, the other follows the same path. Eventually, the family emerges from the crisis and peace in the home is restored.

It is important for us not just to give out money, but to help people find inner resources and strength for a new life. We are convinced that the lack of money is only the tip of the iceberg, and the real problem lies in the lack of knowledge, legal protection and moral support.
We are inspired by the principle of the highest level of charity from the teachings of Rambam: “To give a man a support so that he no longer needs help”. This is what we strive to do by teaching financial literacy, promoting employment and building each family’s self-esteem.
