Why we opened this campaign
We recently received a heartfelt handwritten letter from Svetlana, a mother of three sons. After reading her story, we felt compelled to help her navigate through these challenging times. We hope that her story will inspire you to do the same.
Svetlana and her sons are recent immigrants from the Kharkiv region in Ukraine. Their lives took a drastic turn in 2022, forcing them to move to Israel to escape the dangers of their homeland. Unfortunately, Svetlana could only bring two of her sons with her; her eldest son was not allowed to leave Ukraine.
Svetlana has been divorced for four years and is raising her sons on her own.
Her eldest son, 20-year-old Artem, serves in the Israel Defense Forces in the paratrooper unit.

Her youngest son, 12-year-old Sergey, requires constant care as he has Down syndrome and developmental delays. Sergey struggles with speech, cognitive challenges, and moderate behavioral issues.
Despite these difficulties, Sergey is making significant progress, thanks to the dedication and attention of his mother. He attends a special education school in Haifa and is currently in the 6th grade.
Svetlana invests a lot of time and effort into Sergey's well-being, and she believes in his potential. She works as a speech therapist and is also studying in an ulpan to better integrate into Israeli society.
Despite her busy schedule, Svetlana ensures that Sergey attends all possible therapies and developmental programs. She sees the positive results of these efforts and spares neither time nor resources for her son's improvement.
Everything for Sergey's health. Everything for his future!
Svetlana and Sergey recently spent a few days at the Dead Sea, and here is a quote from her letter about the results:
"It’s incredible, but my child became calmer and improved significantly. How can you not believe in the miracles of God!!!"
Seeing how beneficial these therapies are for her son, Svetlana is asking for help to raise funds for another course of rehabilitation at the Dead Sea or in Eilat, at the dolphinarium.
These treatments are not covered by health insurance, but doctors recommend them as frequently as possible because the positive effect on Sergey's condition is simply remarkable!
Svetlana promises to provide all receipts and a full photo report of the treatment course. However, we don't need these photos to verify the honesty of this dedicated mother. We need them to share in her joy and to celebrate the progress of her son.
