Why we opened this campaign
My name is Malka Sheina. I live in Tzfat. This is my second marriage. Both my husband and I receive disability benefits due to health issues.
I have a serious back problem and cannot do physical work. My husband also has a physical disability. We live solely on our disability allowances.
The money barely covers food and basic expenses. Sometimes we go into the red. Holidays are especially difficult because of the extra costs. We try hard not to take on debt — large loans aren’t given to us anyway, and we cannot take high-interest loans either because of our financial situation or our principles.
We rent a very simple apartment in Tzfat for 1,500 shekels. The conditions are tough: everything is old, no air conditioning, no proper bathroom. This was the cheapest option we could find.
I have children.
My eldest son is serving in the army and receives only the minimal soldier’s allowance.
My second son is now preparing for his wedding.
My daughter is also getting married. She is studying to become a kindergarten teacher (ganenet) so she can have a profession and not end up in our situation.
We are making the simplest possible weddings with no extra expenses. We even considered holding them in a beit knesset, but we were told that is not customary. The minimal cost for two very modest weddings comes to about 80,000 shekels in total.
We do not have that kind of money. There is practically no support from anywhere else.
We are turning to you for help. Every amount matters. It will allow us to hold the weddings without going into debt and give our children a calm start to married life — without a financial pit.
If possible, we would be happy to know the names of those who help, so we can pray for them under the chuppah.
Thank you to everyone who can support us.
