The story

Why we opened this campaign

310 families. 310 holiday tables. Help a family prepare for the holiday in their own way.

On Sukkot, we build and decorate the sukkah, gather around the holiday table, and welcome guests.

But some families have stopped inviting people over. Not because they don’t want to. Simply because, at some point, they realized they could no longer afford to feed them.

While some of us are choosing an etrog, shopping for the holiday, and deciding whom to invite into the sukkah, others are calculating whether anything will be left after rent, bills, and medication for meat, fish, vegetables, challah, fruit, and everyday food for their children.

This Sukkot, the Yad Yitzhak Foundation wants to help these families celebrate the holiday with dignity.

310 Families. 310 Holiday Tables.

There are 310 families on our list.

They include single parents, elderly people, large families, people living with serious illnesses, and those who until recently were managing on their own but are now facing serious financial hardship.

Our overall goal for the fall holidays is ₪250,000.

So far, we have raised ₪57,608.

With average assistance of approximately ₪800 per family, this is enough to support around 72 families.

About 238 families are still waiting for help.

Each family receives ₪500–1,000, depending on household size and individual circumstances.

One principle is especially important to us: each family decides for themselves what they need most. We don’t decide what should be on their holiday table. We give them the ability to prepare for the holiday according to their family’s actual needs.

Ushpizin and the Joy of the Holiday

Sukkot is a holiday of open doors.

It is connected to the tradition of Ushpizin — the symbolic guests we welcome into the sukkah on each of the seven days of Sukkot.

But the joy of the holiday is not only about those sitting at our own table.

This Sukkot, we can help open the door in another home as well — giving one more family the ability to buy groceries, set a holiday table, and welcome guests without worrying about whether they have enough to serve.

Choose Your Level of Support

₪180 — contributes toward helping one family.
₪500 — provides significant support for a small family.
₪800 — on average, fully covers assistance for one family.
₪1,000 — provides support for a larger family.
₪1,600 — on average, supports two families.
₪5,600 — on average, supports seven families — one for each of the seven Ushpizin.
₪8,000 — on average, supports ten families.

Or choose any other amount.

Donations come together until another family has the support they need.

Let There Be a Holiday Table in One More Home This Sukkot

There is very little time left before Sukkot.

We want to reach as many families on our list as possible before the holiday begins.

Help one family buy what they need, set their holiday table, and celebrate Sukkot with dignity.

Chag Sukkot Sameach!
