Why we opened this campaign
Hanukkah. Who would have thought that after thousands of years, this holiday would become so relevant to us today?
On October 7th of last year, Israel was drawn into the longest war since the founding of the state. Last Hanukkah, we celebrated under heavy bombings, mourning those we lost and sending our sons and husbands off to war.
This Hanukkah, we arrive again—though we’ve lost friends and loved ones, though we face countless challenges and enemies—but we remain unbroken.
First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude to those who, with weapons in hand, protect our peaceful sleep and relatively peaceful lives.
The Yad Yitzchok Foundation, together with the Jerusalem-based volunteer center Mama Eva, will light the first candle—the Candle of Hope—at a military base in Judea.
We are organizing a large Hanukkah celebration with barbecue, music, dancing, a cultural program, and special guests to bring joy to our soldiers. Yes, we are going directly to those very guys you see in the photos. For over a year, they have been guarding our safety—it is time for us to say “thank you” and give them a true day of light and celebration.
You can support the foundation's initiative by contributing to our campaign.
