Why we opened this campaign
Regarding the holiday of Shavuot, the Torah says: “You and your son and your daughter and your slave and your maiden and the Levite who is at your gate and the orphan and the widow who is among you, shall rejoice before the L-rd your G-d…” (Dvarim 16:11).
In fact, charity, caring for the poor, the needy, and the destitute, is one of the most important issues in the Jewish way of life. This is also one of the main issues in the Book of Ruth, which we traditionally read on the holiday of Shavuot.
At the Yad Yitzchok Foundation, we daily care for people who need help. Yet on Shavuot, we always do something special, inspired by the heroes of Ruth's book. These days we want to provide the needy with the essentials for the holiday table, showing true compassion and mercy.
Each of us faces difficulties in our lives. However, we can help others who find themselves in an even more difficult, sometimes hopeless situation, give them a sense of warmth and caring, and give them smiles and hope for the best.
For this reason, we call on everyone to take part in a kind deed with us!
Even a small contribution can make these people happy. Let's show care and love for others together, just as the heroes of the Book of Ruth did.
Thank you for your support!
