The story

Why we opened this campaign

Hannah's story is the one that never gets forgotten. In fact, the story is about one discovery that turns a person's life upside down forever.

Hannah is an orphan. Her parents passed away when she was only a few years old. She ended up in an orphanage and knew nothing of her roots.

Once her mother's sibling found her and informed her of their Jewish ancestry. This was a shock to Hannah!  Thus, she determined to find out more about her roots and began studying the traditions, and the laws of Judaism. Therefore, she became a Baal Teshuvah.

... "I'm a Baal Teshuvah. When I first found out that I was Jewish, I was shocked! And I really wanted to understand what it meant to be Jewish. I started going to Jewish events and learning about Jewish traditions. After a year, I realized that my life has to be based on these values. It was a difficult time, but I feel like I found myself and my way!"...

Hannah is on the verge of another new beginning. She's getting ready to get married! Her future husband is a wonderful young man sharing her beliefs and values.

Hannah contacted the foundation as she couldn't imagine organizing her wedding on her own. After all, her parents passed away when she was a child and her only relative, her aunt, lost her life shortly after she found out about her Jewish roots. Financial difficulties have become a barrier to her happiness as well.

As we met Hannah in person and heard her story, we realized we couldn't leave her alone in her struggle for a happy future. Her fortitude and willingness to live inspired us to help her.

... "I would be so grateful if you could help us. It's so important to us! I promise that we will always remember your support and kindness!"
