The story

Why we opened this campaign

Life changes, career shifts, or repatriation are significant life challenges where we rely on the support of our closest loved ones. But when family members betray us, and even worse, show cruelty, these challenges become unbearable.

The Yad Yitzchak Foundation received a plea for help from Alexandra, a repatriate living in Ashdod with her two children. She moved to Israel in October 2022 with her husband, a young daughter, and a teenage son from her first marriage.

Very soon, psychological abuse from her husband began. Alexandra finds it hard to talk about the specifics, but the extent of the abuse can be judged by the results: by April 2023, she was in the midst of a divorce and was regularly visiting an organization that helps survivors of domestic violence. Her husband stalked her and their young daughter, attempting to literally snatch her from Alexandra's arms and kidnap her.

The little girl was afraid to go to kindergarten and told the social worker that her father would take her and leave the country. To care for her daughter, Alexandra couldn’t work until September 2023. When her daughter started first grade, Alexandra opened a children's development and creativity studio.

This was on October 1, 2023. And by the 7th…

By now, Alexandra has reached a desperate situation. Her ex-husband has left Israel and is no longer a resident. Consequently, Alexandra receives no child support from him or the father of her older son.

She lives with her children in a rented apartment and continues to work with children in her studio. She is dedicated to her beloved and important work, bringing joy to children and their parents in the toughest of times. Alexandra receives 350 shekels a month from Bituach Leumi and 1300 shekels in housing assistance, but it is still critically insufficient.

Let’s join together to help Alexandra and her family overcome these life challenges! The Yad Yitzchak Foundation is launching a fundraising campaign to help Alexandra pay her rent arrears and utility bills (arnona and hashmal). We need your support to achieve this goal!
