Why we opened this campaign
After Emergency Heart Surgery, a Family Is Left Without Means of Support.
For 30 years, the head of the family worked as a sofer STaM — a scribe who handwrites sacred Jewish texts. His meticulous work was the family's only source of income, allowing him to provide for his loved ones and meet their financial obligations.
But two weeks ago, the family's life changed dramatically. The father required emergency heart surgery — coronary artery bypass surgery. He is now recovering from this major procedure and is unable to return to work.
This family has endured years of financial hardship and has made every effort to overcome its debts on its own.
Four years ago, his wife decided to launch a newspaper for women in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. To develop the publication, the family took on significant financial obligations, hoping the business would eventually generate income.
Unfortunately, they were unable to attract enough advertisers and retail outlets. The newspaper had to close, leaving the family with debts totaling 1,200,000 shekels.
Throughout these years, the family tried to manage on its own. As long as the father was able to work, his earnings were barely enough to get through each month and meet at least some of their financial obligations.
But now, following his emergency surgery, the family has lost its only source of income.
The couple has six children. Two have already started families of their own, one is currently looking for a marriage partner, and two are studying in yeshivas. The family's financial situation has become especially difficult at a time when the father needs to focus on his recovery and is unable to provide for his loved ones.
Today, this family is asking for help because they no longer have the resources or means to overcome this crisis on their own.
They urgently need support to get through the recovery period after surgery, cover basic everyday necessities, and avoid falling into even greater financial hardship.
Every donation is an opportunity to help a family that has spent years trying to stand on its own but now faces circumstances it cannot overcome without support.
