Recently Alexandra, an elderly woman who has been through a lot in her life, contacted our foundation. Early widowhood, four children in her arms, moving to Israel in the early 2000s, a hard repatriation path - working at a meat processing plant, part-time jobs in cleaning, a modest life in an Amidarov apartment. All this is a common reality for thousands of people, but in Alexandra's case, a serious illness added to it.
She was diagnosed with two tumors, one in her thyroid and one in her rectum. She started chemotherapy. The pension from Bituah Leumi barely covered basic needs. The son helped by taking out a metapel watch to accompany his mother on her weekly trips to Jerusalem for treatments. The treatment and poor diet had ruined her teeth, and that was the last straw.
Alexandra turned to the foundation for help - and we were not left out.
We managed to get a quota for dental treatment for a considerable amount. In addition, funds were collected for groceries, and assistance was provided with paperwork.
Alexandra gave us her words of gratitude. She said that the Foundation's help was a real miracle for her.
