“… I want to confess that it took several months for my husband to approve my appeal to you,” that's how Sarah's letter began when she asked for help. It is difficult to ask for help, and it is much harder to do it openly, in front of a large audience.
The family lives very modestly due to the husband's low income. He is a sofer who copies scrolls. His work is important, responsible, time-consuming, and not highly paid. Until recently, the parents on both sides of the family were seriously ill: the mother-in-law and the father-in-law with a cancerous disease, which costs an enormous amount of money to treat.
Being forced to borrow, the family found themselves below the poverty line. They were unable to pay off all their debts and were forced to seek help.
